Annual Open House at the Whinstone Tavern
on October 14th
Mark your calendars for the Annual Open House which will be at the Whinstone Tavern on Wednesday, October 14th from 7:00 to 9:00pm. It would be awesome if everyone attending the Open House could bring with them a friend, neighbor, family member or co-worker to show them all that Mt. Laurel has to offer. Open House is always a fun evening talking with the representatives from the mountains and ski/sports shops as well as Club members about all the activities such as hiking, kayaking, ski racing and more. Everyone enjoys winning and you get that chance with the ever popular raffle which will be held at 8:00pm. See the flyer at the end of the newsletter. I will have extra copies of the flyer at meetings. Please post the flyer at your local markets, restaurants and gyms and invite all your friends to attend the Open House!!!
I am looking for volunteers to help me on the night of the event as well as with the planning so please see me if you can lend a hand. Your assistance is very much appreciated.
Even though the August 31st deadline to renew your membership for the 2015-2016 season is going to pass by soon, it is still not too late to renew. If past August 31st, all you need to do is include the $15 late fee in with the membership dues. New members can join at any time and there is never a late fee for new members. I will have copies of both forms at the meetings.
Events for Ski Season
I am looking for people to chair events for the upcoming ski season. If you ran an event last season and will be chairing it again let me know along with what weekend the event will be held on. New events are always welcome. I would like commitments on as many events as possible by the beginning of October so it is available at open house and also when voucher sales begin some time in October. Contact Barbara Wysocki at Barbara.firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fall Hiking 2015
Come and hike with us and start working on those legs for skiing. Hiking is a great way to stay in shape for ski season.
Since virtually all of our hikes are on blazed woodland trails, we recommend use of hiking boots as opposed to low cut sneakers. There are many loose rocks and roots on these trails making it easy to turn an ankle. Many members also use hiking poles. You’ll need rain gear, water and a snack or gorp.
Interested in leading a hike? See Rick Sullivan or Jeanne Delehanty.
Mt. Laurel Golf Weekend, August 28-30th
We had spectacular weather for the second golf tournament of the year at Tater Hill GC. Huge thanks to Barbara Wysocki and her capable crew for spearheading this fun event which was won with a score of 8 under! Everyone who played had a great time. Sorry we didn't get pictures at the course but here are a few from the after-game party at the lodge.
